All the data in my research is publicly accessible for free - either directly or through FOIA or state FOI - with one exception:
Lenders in the US take a security interest in real estate by recording a mortgage or deed of trust with the relevant county. The Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) allows for the analogous collateralization of personal property at the state level, e.g.
UCC filings are public data, but Texas chooses to charge $1,350 for a database dump. The snapshot of the data I purchased is posted below.
